Our Bus Conversion Journey Begins!
Welcome to Our Bus Life Adventure
We officially began converting our shuttle bus into a full-time home five years ago! It was a big dream of ours to live on the road, work for ourselves, and create a lifestyle that gives us freedom, creativity, and family connection. This blog is where we intended to share the real, raw, and exciting parts of the process. But life happened and I dropped the ball on posting and sharing our journey to my blog, not just to YouTube. So, five years in, I feel it is time to fix that. I am starting all the way back to our first video and sharing reflections/thoughts/advice in the hopes it will help others who are just beginning this journey of bus living.
First Step: Getting the Bus in the Barn
Before anything could begin, we had to get our shuttle bus into the space where it would be protected from the weather (and where we could work rain or shine!) It turned out to be the perfect spot! It was close to home, secure, had storage and allowed us to come and go as we pleased.

Learning As We Go (and That’s Okay)
This first video was a learning experience on many levels. We filmed it vertically — not really realizing that horizontal is the best for YouTube. We also played around with layering audio on top of audio, and let’s just say…we’ve become much more savvy with the editing software since 2020.
We didn’t include a hook, a voiceover, or even an introduction to who we were. But you know what? That’s all part of the journey. We have documented everything — even the awkward beginnings — because we wanted to be honest about what this process really looks like for beginners.
A Little Bit of Bus Reality
Getting caught up in the build itself, we often said we would worry about ‘that’ later. Well, the chairs that we pulled out of the bus became one of those. Turns out, mice had found their way into them — so out they went! On the bright side, the mice had no interest in the bus itself since they found homes already.
Why We Decided To Do This
The dream of living in a bus, traveling, and working for ourselves is what fueled this whole project. We didn’t have a ton of experience — but we soaked up knowledge from others who’d gone before us. Every video we watched and every mistake we made helped us get one step closer to living this lifestyle.
What’s Next?
Beyond our first video, we continued to learn and attempted to capture every step along the way — the wins, the fails, and everything in between. Some videos show specific areas we worked on, others are quick updates on our progress(this one is one of my favourite videos that Corey put together)
