40 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Me
Whether you have come across my blog because of our bus lifestyle or were looking for more ways to practice gratitude in your life, I thought it would be fun to share 40 things you probably didn’t know about me.
Here Goes Nothing….
- I taught English in South Korea for one year after graduating from university.
- Played the trumpet for eight years. Even entered competitions and won first place in most of them.
- I always wanted to become a foster mom and help as many kids as I could before eventually adopting.
- I was an early reader and it was my favourite past time growing up.
- I wrote a novel with a friend in elementary school. Still have the handwritten pages.
- I went to school to become a social worker, but changed direction after first year to English Lit.
- Used to run my own business, doing commercial cleaning.
- Been involved in three car accidents.
- Traveled quite a bit in my twenties.
- Swimming is not my favourite. Don’t like to put my head below water.
- When I wasn’t reading, I was watching TV shows and movies.
- First CD I owned was Gordon by The Barenaked Ladies.
- My dad was in the Air Force, so we lived on bases and moved around a lot.
- Some of my favourite foods are chocolate, pasta and salads.
- Some of my least favourite foods are mustard, milk and seafood. I do love (most) Sushi!
- Can’t sing or whistle.
- We always had pets growing up. Cats, dogs, fish, turtles, hamsters. Echo is my first baby though.
- One of my favourite movies is “When Harry Met Sally.”
- I am a huge Harry Potter fan! I was introduced to the series by my high school students in Korea. I read books 1-5 to catch up before Order of the Phoenix dropped in theaters that summer. Then we all went to see it together. I am hoping to start reading them with Gwen in the very near future.
- I was 42 before I was stung by a bee. Thankfully, I am not allergic.
- I have my Bachelors in Education.
- At 16, I pierced my belly button. Didn’t tell my parents. It got infected and I had to remove it a week later.
- In high school, I was lucky enough to go to several concerts with my friends.
- The first musical I saw was Les Mis in Toronto.
- While in Vegas, saw Shania Twain during her residency there. My dad is a super fan so heard her music all the time growing up.
- Never had a broken bone or stitches *knock on wood*
- Used to have an old school camera in high school and loved learning all about photography.
- I also had a telescope when I was younger and used to know all of the constellations.
- In Grade 12, I was part of a magnet program where I learned all about the broadcasting world.
- I was a writer for two years at my university paper.
- In my 30s, I bought a 1972 Volkswagon Beetle. Corey and I started restoring it together. Then we had Gwen, decided to buy a bus and build that out. So we found a new owner to (hopefully) finish the project.
- I played basket ball and volleyball until grade 9.
- My parents have been married for 43 years.
- I am a stepmom to three kids.
- I have one tattoo, that I got when I was 33. It’s Cinderella’s glass slipper.
- Three nicknames I had growing up: Cindy and Spork and Nova (but never Jenny).
- Was 28 when I finally got to visit Disney! Can’t wait to go back with Gwen.
- While living in South Korea, I was lucky enough to explore Beijing and Tokyo.
- I have been a sponsor with SOS Children’s Villages since 2008.
- I have a terrible memory. If I don’t write it down, I won’t remember to do it.
So there you go! 40 things you probably didn’t know about me. I challenge you to do the same and write down fun facts about yourself that others may not know. It’s a great way to go down memory lane and remind yourself of all the amazing things you’ve done in your life so far.
